Premier Van Lines International was founded in 1992 by J. Arthur Haddow and Michael Cordell. The office and warehouse was located in Salt Lake City, Utah.
You can ship your vehicle; however, you must change the steering wheel from the left to the right side within six months. This cost ranges from $15K to $25K which is cost prohibitive for most. There is an exemption for vehicles that are 30 yrs or older.
Getting a realistic quote based on the actual items you intend to ship is based on three different survey methods. First, you can fill out our estimator that will allow you to list the items that you have and the spreadsheet will automatically calculate the weight and volume of your shipment. Second, we can perform an over the phone survey in which you tell us what you have and we will input the items into the estimator. Lastly, we can have an agent within your area to come to your residence. Our agent will perform a survey on our behalf at your residence. They will note all of the items that you plan to ship into their estimator or cube sheet. This should only take about 30 to 45 minutes. Please contact us for a free survey.
Every shipment must go through the Australia Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS); or customs. The cost a lift van is around $220.00 whereas the 20 and 40 foot container is around $500.00 and $900.00 respectively.
Getting a survey is very important. Our company will setup a survey for you at no cost. Once we get the results, we will send the actual survey to you for your review. We will also send you a quote based on your survey results; however, the invoice will be based on what you actually take. If by chance you need to stay within a specific budget, we can help you with that as well. There are five ways that we can make sure that we stay within close to your budget:
First of all, we will use as many crates as your budget will allow. For example, if you only want to take 1,000 lbs, then we would use only one crate as they normally hold about 1,000 lbs each.
Second, we will keep track of the items on the inventory sheet. We have found that every 1,000 lbs will take up one full page of inventory which is usually a combination of boxes and furnitures.
There are multiple methods to ship your household goods: cargo containers, 100 cubes, lift vans, 20 and 40 ft steel containers. You can self load with cargo containers and steel containers; however, lift vans will require us to load due to liability.
Third, we keep track of how long the movers take to pack and/or load the shipment. We have learned that every 1,000 lbs takes about an hour of pack/loading for three movers.
Fourth, we rely on our agent to "eyeball" your shipment. Given their level of expertise, they can pretty much let us know just by looking at your household goods if your shipment is going to fit into the allotted number of crates and stay within your budget.
Lastly, we will determine the net weight and cubic feet of your shipment at the local warehouse after your initial pick up date. This will ensure that your invoice will be close to what you expect.
We have a weight estimator that will help you judge how much weight you have to move. You simply put the number of pieces of furniture you are shipping and the calculator adds the average amount of packing weight for the boxes you will have when you are ready to move. It simplifies your estimating by eliminating the need to list the number of boxes. It is important to note that this is simply a tool to do a preliminary analysis of your weight and does not eliminate the need for an in home survey to get a better estimate or your weight and move requirements. You must have MS Excel of Excel compatible program on your computer for the file to function properly.
