Every shipment must go through the Australia Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS); or customs. The cost a lift van is around $300.00 whereas the 20 and 40 foot container is around $500.00 and $900.00 respectively.  It is really important to be aware of what is banned and what needs to be declared to avoid additional charges. When shipping household goods, things like pinecones, dirt, raw wood, animal furs must be omitted as they are considered banned items.  If you have any questions about a specific item, please call or email us at 877.782.2111 and neena@premiervanlines.com.

ABOUT US

We at Premier Van Lines International with many years of experience, specialize in moves to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra to name a few.

Australian customs can be quite picky for certain items imported into the country. However, they do allow Packed By Owner (PBO) boxes, as long as there is a brief description of the contents. All shipments entering Australia require the owner of the shipment to fill out an Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) form. Certain items coming into Australia need to be declared on the form, and certain items are banned and should not enter the country at all. If they do enter the country, they will most likely be incinerated, and the cost of that incineration will be added to the customer's customs clearance bill. Below is a general but not complete list of banned and declared items.

Banned items: firearms and ammunition, all items with military application including rifle scopes, etc., fresh and prepared food products including dairy products, eggs, seeds, live plants & animals, uncanned meat, live animals, fresh fruits & vegetables, animal fur/hide, biohazardous / radioactive material, game and hunting trophies including deer/moose/elk busts, controlled substances including certain prescription drugs, any soil or items with soil in/around them including tents, boots, golf clubs, etc., live plants, pet food, wood bark.

Items that must be declared on the AQIS form: Dried fruit/vegetables, packaged meals, herbs/spices including herbal teas and medicines, all coffee and tea, any animal product not banned above, all wooden articles (any item containing bark), all items made from plant material including straw, bamboo, leaves, etc., Christmas decorations (pine cones banned), dried flowers, all sports/camping equipment including hiking, cycling, golf and fishing equipment.
